  1. This sunshade is thin as paper. I have had it for a few weeks now and it hasn’t ripped yet but I know that it will soon. I am looking for a different one.

    Buy 2 and save option?

Each item comes from a different company and the shipping for each are nearly the same as the item itself. Pretty bad deal.

Maybe I am not as talented as some people, but I had a hard time folding the shade up to put it away when I was done using it. Each shade has a wire frame that you are supposed to be able to fold into two circles to make the shade small enough to store easily while you are driving; then you slip an elastic band around the two circles so that the shade does not pop back open. I followed the brief instructions to fold it, but I’ve only gotten it to fold up correctly two times. Because I cannot fold it correctly, I just fold it down the best I can, slip the elastic band over it, and hope it stays put. It may take me one or two tries to get it to stay and not pop back open to full size. The problem now is I think that the wire frame is permanently damaged from me folding it incorrectly so many times that it physically cannot be folded properly even if I could figure out how to do it.

I gave it two stars instead of one because it still does its job of keeping the sun out of my car. It’s just the putting it up and folding it away each time that frustrates me. Otherwise, it’s fine.

After using an accordion-style sunshade for my Prius windshield for three years, I decided to switch to this two-part foldable shade. The accordion shade was too small for the Prius’ rather large windshield, with the base sitting on the dashboard instead of going to the bottom of the windshield.

The Basix Magic Shade Super Jumbo covers my entire windshield, from the visor to the windshield base. They are large enough that there is some overlap between the panels. The shades are easy to expand from the hoop shape they are stored in. However, it is a little more difficult to get the shades to fold back up for storage. One of the shades has little tags on two ends that provide instructions. Basically, hold the shade with your thumbs over the tags, fold the shade like a taco (the instructions do mention a taco), then give the shade a twist. It then folds into the circular shape the product ships in. Repeat the process with the other shade. I would recommend folding up the shades before letting your passenger inside. It takes some room to do the folding maneuver.

The material (nylon?) used for the shades is indeed thin. There were a few places on my shade where I could see little pinhole breaks in the fabric. I suppose the fabric will hold up as long as I don’t poke or chafe it.

I should note that I bought my shades at a big box store, but they are the same brand and model as these. I noticed two different packages of shades on the shelf. Most of the packages had nylon shades that were colored silvery-gray on one side and black on the other. However, there were a couple packages where the shade material appeared to be made of that really thin silver mylar. I chose not to buy those shades because they looked so thin. Another thing to note – my shades smelled bad when I first used them. A sort of oily, plasticky, diesel-like smell. After one use, the smell went away. Maybe the sun baked the smell out of the shade.

I needed the largest possible sunshade for my 2010 Honda Fit, and this fit the bill perfectly.

I preferred this shade over the Sunshade for HONDA FIT 2009 2010 HEATSHIELD Windshield Custom-fit Sunshade also available here on Amazon for its storage size.

Slides into the back seat pocket great. Highly recommend if you have an extra tall front window in your vehicle.
